Our Bamfiled Story

It was late in the summer season when we first arrived in Bamfield. We had spent a number of years adventuring around Vancouver Island, exploring coastlines and coastal communities while pursuing our catch of the day. Despite the island’s abundant beauty and endless opportunities for exploration and adventure, we knew we had found something truly special the day we arrived in Bamfield, BC.

For enthusiasts of the wild West Coast, the moment we set foot in Bamfield, nestled at the edge of Barkley Sound, we were captivated by its breathtaking coastal vistas, abundant fishing grounds, and countless islands waiting to be explored. Still, we found Bamfield’s best asset to be its many wonderful and caring people. A small community with a rich history, Bamfield's narrative intertwines with tales of exploration, trade, and resilience along a rugged shoreline. From Huu-ay-aht traditions and culture, the laying of the first trans-pacific telegraph cable, the legacy of the West Coast (Lifesaving) Trail, through to its strategic significance during WWII, Bamfield's story is a tapestry woven with diverse threads. Add to this, its commercial and sport fishing endeavors and its pivotal role in marine and coastal science exploration, this area of Vancouver Island is one of a kind.

An ideal destination for adventurers and nature enthusiasts alike, the combination of outdoor activities, historical significance, and cultural richness promises an unforgettable experience. In this coastal paradise, there are always opportunities to relax, explore, discover and adventure. We welcome you to come stay in our beautiful home during your own explorations of the wild West Coast.
